Grandparent's Day at R.L. Young

A Rainbow of Colors

Thank You Mrs. Melissa!

 Mrs. Nabors' class got a wonderful surprise on Friday.  Graclyn's mother bought all the students colorful water bottles and made tie-dyed  cupcakes!  This surprise came at the conclusion of  our color study.  Thanks again Mrs. Melissa!

Never Too Young for Technology

Both the kindergarten students and teachers were very excited to receive a special gift last week.  Promethean boards were installed in both the kindergarten classrooms.  Both the teachers AND the kindergarten students are enjoying working with these interactive boards.

I Am Special!

Our kindergartners just completed a two week unit of study that focused on being unique.  During this study, we made boy and girl graphs, eye color graphs, hair color graphs, pet graphs, and birthday graphs.  We also tried to learn our address and phone number.  We ended the study by having a "Twin Day."  This day was in honor of our kindergarten twins, Tressleh and Pryor.  The students were taught the following poem to help them better understand their differences.
                                                        I like my hair, my eyes, and my name;
                                                       But you and I are not the same.
                                                      We are different as you can see,
                                                      But we're the best that we can be!

A Cool Treat

Thanks Danica C. for this cool treat!  The kindergarten students enjoyed cooling off with a Popsicle at the picnic tables after playing outside.

August Good Citizens

Mrs. Liner and Mrs. Nabors have chosen their Good Citizens for the month of August.  To be chosen you must have exceptional behavior, be willing to help others, exhibit a good attitude, and be a hard worker.  Mrs. Liner chose Kiera W. and Jaia J. was chosen by Mrs. Nabors.  Congratulations girls!  Both teachers are already on the look out for September Good Citizens!
