Today in kindergarten, we read the book The Cat in the Hat.  In honor of this Dr. Seuss book, we wore hats to school.  We also were treated to Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes from a very special mom.  Thanks Mrs. Christy for the adorable cupcakes!  Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

2-10-12 PE Star Student of the Week!

This week's star student is a very hard worker. She is very caring and is always putting others before herself. She is willing to do whatever it takes to see that everyone is treated fairly. This week’s star student has shown her classmates the true meaning of treating others the way you want to be treated. Great job Emi N., for being a great friend, and a terrific leader to everyone. Keep up the great work!

Special Visit

Our kindergartners were treated to a special surprise Wednesday afternoon.  In honor of Maddox W.'s birthday, his mother brought the official Pace Car from the Talladega Super Speedway to show his class.

Maddox is a huge NASCAR fan, so this was a huge treat for him.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Our kindergartners spent a lot of time today learning about groundhogs. Did you know that groundhogs are also known as woodchucks or whistle pigs?  Well, R.L. Young's kindergarten students know that fact, along with many more!  Some students were a little disappointed that we will have six more weeks of winter, but other students are hoping that we might see some snow in those six weeks!  (Pictured above are Mrs. Thomas, her special groundhog, and Taylor G.)
