R. L.Young Honor Roll Assembly, April 23

This will be our last Honor Roll Assembly (Wednesday, April 23) for the year. Kindergarten through second grade assembly will begin at 12:45 p.m. and third through sixth will begin at 1:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend. 

Awards Day on May 21 for grades 1st - 5th will wrap up a great school year. Kindergarten students and sixth graders will be rewarded at their graduation ceremonies on May 19. Stay tuned to the blog for more happenings at R. L. Young. It's a great place to learn and grow!

The school year is coming to an end quickly!  Listed below are a few important dates you might want to put on your calendar.

• Friday, April 11th - Birmingham Zoo Field Trip
• Tuesday, April 15th  - 10 filled Easter Eggs due for Easter Egg Hunt
• Thursday, April 17th  - Easter Egg Hunt
• Friday, April 18th - Weather Day!  NO SCHOOL!
• Monday, April 21st - Spring DIBELS test
• Friday, May 16th - Forever Young Field Day
• Monday, May 19th - Kindergarten Graduation 9:00 a.m.

Students may enter the building at 7:15 a.m. and go to the lunchroom.  School BEGINS at 7:45 a.m. 

Breakfast Anyone?

  

Breakfast will start on Monday, August 26 for school year 2013/14.  Student lunch and breakfast prices will remain the same …… $2.00 (lunch) and $1.00 (breakfast). 

Adult meals will increase from $2.50 to $2.75 for 13/14 school year.  (Adult meals must be calculated according to the state/federal guidelines – formula:  paying student price + commodity assistance + paid reimbursement)  When calculating the adult price using last year figures (13/14 calculation will be higher) the total was above $2.50.  In order to comply with this guideline it will be necessary for us to increase adult lunch meal prices.

3:00 to 3:30-------1st grade (meet in library) 
 
3:00 – 3:30 ------ 3rd grade (meet in classrooms) 
 
3:30 to 4:00-------2nd grade (meet in classrooms)
 
4:00 – 4:30------ UGA (Upper Grade Academy 5th and 6th in auditorium)
 
4:30 – 5:00------ 4th grade (Main Building in auditorium) 
 
5:00 – 6:00------ Kindergarten in library

Kindergarten Graduation

Kindergarten graduation is fast approaching!  Please mark Monday, May 20th on your calendar.  The graduation will take place in the school auditorium at 9:00 a.m.  Your child will need to wear their graduation shirt (which will be sent home at a later date) and something blue jean on the bottom (shorts, pants, or skirts).  The ceremony will last approximately one hour.

Honor Roll Assembly and Cap and Gown Pics

Honor Roll Assembly has been rescheduled for Jan. 28, 2013. The K-2 group will begin at 12:45 p.m. and 3-6 group will start at 1:30 p.m.

Cap and Gown pictures for kindergarten and 6th grade will be February 1.

"Feliz Navidad"

Yesterday our Kindergarten classes took our annual trip to the Mexican Restaurant for our Christmas Fiesta.  The children enjoyed their meal, their Christmas cookies, and singing "Feliz Navidad" to the staff and all the customers.  Merry Christmas from R.L. Young's Kindergarten!

This week’s star student has worked hard to so his teachers and classmates the true meaning of a star student.  He is very respectful and kind to everyone.  He is always willing to help and be there for others in their time of need.  This is his first year here at RL Young but he is already making a big impact on our school.  Great job Leland H. for being this week’s brightest star!  Keep up the hard work!
